REGULATION OF WATER VENDORS WATER KIOSKS, WATER TANKERS/BOWSERS, HAND OR DONKEYS DRAWN CARTS, WATER POINTS (SHALLOW WELLS AND SPRINGS), PRIVATE BOREHOLES AND PUBLIC BOREHOLES

Embu Water and Sanitation Company Limited (EWASCO) is licensed by Water Services Regulatory Board (WASREB) as a provider of water and sanitation services within specific areas within Embu County under the water Act 2016, section 74.

Further, following notice issued by WASREB vide Kenya Gazettes Notice no 1303 of 3^rd February 2023 and requirements of Water Regulations 2021 section 72,73,74 and 75, all water operators within Embu County including water kiosks, water tankers/Bowser, hand or Donkey drawn carts, water points (shallow wells and springs), and Private Boreholes operating within Embu County shall be under regulations of EWASCO.

Notice is therefore hereby given to all water operators within Embu County to submit the following documents to facilitate Registration.

1.Water Kiosks, Water Tankers/Bowsers and boreholes

Report for the last six months (August 2022-January 2023) detailing the following aspects:

1. Volume of water supplied (M3)
2. Abstractions sources details
3. Number of customers served
4. Approximately no of households served
5. Tariff charged (Ksh/units)- is 1,000 liters
6. Water quality surveillance report
7. You SHALL also submit two water quality test repots conducted by KEBS or two approved lab tests on your water with six months testing intervals.
8. The following registration documents;
9. Copy of valid WARMA permit
10. Copy of valid NEMA permits
11. Copy of a valid Business Permit from Embu County Government
12. Nation ID documents of KRA Pin of the owner company
13. Contact details of the Owner/operator/company
14. Metered connections(functions)
15. Number of staff operating the systems
16. Last audited statement /Accounts
17. For bowsers/tankers, present the vehicles for inspection.  
18. For boreholes, also include a map indicating the geo-location of the borehole.

2.Hand or Donkey drawn Carts, Water Points (shallow wells and springs)

1. Source of Water
2. National ID documents and KRA pin of the owner/operator
3. Contact details of the owner/operator
4. For carts, provide a photograph and all-round measurements of the cart in meters.

3. Exhausters

Reports for the last six months (August 2022-january 2023) detailing the following aspects:

1. Volume of effluent discharged (M3)
2. Discharge point details
3. Number of customers served
4. Vehicle registration number
5. Vehicle capacity
6. Average No. of trips per month
7. Copy of Valid NEMA permit
8. Copy of Valid business Permit from Embu County Government
9. National ID documents KRA Pin of the owner/company
10. Contact details of the Owner/operator/company

All vendors must have permit from Public Health Unit.

Registration documents are to be delivered to the Company’s offices located at Embu town, EWASCO building off Embu Meru Road P.O. Box 2142-60100 Embu to reach us on or before 14^th April,2023 and should be addressed to:
